FAQ

Read on for answers to our most common questions...
In the lead up...
Where is Glen Innes?
In the New England region of north eastern New South Wales. About 7 hours from Sydney and 4:30 hours from Brisbane.
When do entries close?
48 hours before the event.
Is there a risk waiver?
See our Terms, Conditions & Risk Waiver. You need to agree to these terms to particpate in a Goodness Gravel event.
Can I get a discount?
Sure! We offer a 10% discount for groups of 5 or more riders. Email info@goodnessgravel.com for the details.
What type of bike should I ride?
Gravel bikes are the most obvious choice and strike the best balance for comfort, control and speed. Mountain bikes are a popular choice as well. E-bikes are welcome. Road bikes are not recommended.

38 to 48mm wide tyres are the most popular choice. Running tubeless is a good idea. Our sponsor, Panaracer have an excellent range of gravel tyres if you're looking for some new rubber.

Regardless of what bike you ride, remember to bring spares.
What weather should I expect?
March in New England is typically perfect riding weather but can be unpredictable (it's 1,000m above see level). Average temps are 12°C - Max 24°C. Mostly dry. Sunrise 6:47am, sunset 7:19pm. It can be windy.
Should I have insurance?
We highly recommend that you organise your own Third Party Public Liability and Personal Accident Insurance. If you have a membership with AusCycling, Flip Insurance or similar, this will cover you.
Any accommodation tips?
There's lots to choose from - motels, pubs, AirBnBs, camping and caravan parks. There's some good info here.

You can camp or caravan at the event village (Glen Innes Showground). Prices are very reasonable and they have shaded sites, toilets, hot showers and water tank refilling stations. We recommend pre-booking, especially this year as Goodness Gravel falls on the same weekend as Minerama.
What if I can't make it on the day?
You can transfer your entry to another rider or take a credit for another event.
When should I expect the GPX file?
In the week leading up to the event.
On the day...
What happens in extreme weather?
Your safety and enjoyment is our top priority. We'll do our best to monitor the situation and communicate any changes in real time. Events maybe altered or cancelled if required. You'll receive an automatic credit in the event of a cancellation.
When and where can I pick up my race pack?
Friday evening 4:00pm - 6:00pm (TBD) or Saturday morning from 6:45am (Event Village).
What's the vibe? Party pace or race pace?
We've all been there... "I'll just take it easy today" can quickly turn into "Eat my dust suckers!!!!" at a big event when the rubber hits the road.

We want you to push yourself as much or as little as you like but have a couple of things we'd like you to be mindful of:

1) We want you to enjoy the day, have fun, celebrate the gravel community and enjoy riding somewhere different.
2) You'll be riding through remote areas. Mobile coverage is not always guaranteed if you need help.
3) Ride to the conditions and your skill. Don't be a d!ck and don't let your ego get out of control. Be courteous and friendly to fellow riders.
4) Be prepared and self sufficient. This means bike serviced, spares and fitness to complete the ride enjoyably.
5) Obey the road rules and watch for traffic. You'll be on quiet but open roads.
What's the go with the aid stations?
125km riders
1) Mount Mitchell @ 28km - Water, hydration powder and sunscreen. Basic food options.
2) Red Range Hall @ 80km - Bars, gels, bananas, donuts, savouries etc. Water, hydration powder and sunscreen. Music. Toilets. Bag drop.

75km riders
1) Red Range Hall @ 32km - Bars, gels, bananas, donuts, savouries etc. Water, hydration powder and sunscreen. Music. Toilets. Bag drop.

35km riders
No aid stations.

Optional Bag drop
We will transport your rider bag to and from the rest stop. Space limitations mean we can only accept riders' Goodness Gravel bags. It will have your name on it but we recommend using a coloured ribbon or similar to make it easy to spot.
Is there mobile reception?
Not guaranteed once out of town.
Mechanicals and medical emergencies?
First Aid will be available at the event village and also roaming on course. An emergency number will be provided at registration.
Are there prizes?
Yes! Each entry will be put into a hat and lucky rider prizes will be announced on the day.

The Panaracer Plate is our major prize thanks to SCV who donate $500 to be used on Apidura Bags or Panaracer Tires.
What's on offer back at the event village?
Complimentary sausage sanga (or vege/vegan option) and drink. Bag drop and pickup, live music, coffee, mechanic, medic, bathrooms including hot showers. Wheelchair access is available at the council toilets.
